July 1, 2010 by Joanne Reyes Lopez   Comments (0)

Four South American teams are through to the quarter-finals of a World Cup for the first time since 1930. Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will play the Netherlands, Germany, Ghana and Spain in their respective quarter-finals in South Africa. As fellow South American, I am proud of our achievements. So why South America is dominating at this world cup?The similarities between the South American teams goes well beyond their shared culture. They all represent - to varying degrees - the same... Open letter to Tommy Smyth

Hi Tommy, I listened to your podcast on technology after the bad decisions by referees at the world cup. My question is why are people looking so far to a solution that could even ruin the flow of the game and not see the simplest solution to this - sportsmanship. Why cant players (goalie in Germans case) put their hand up to say 'yes that went in'. Is soccer such a dishonest sport that sportsmanship is measured to a certain degree that doesn't go as far as players being honest in such... Read full post

France

It's not just South African's, most visitors have bought one, so South... Read full post

Funny FIFA 2010 questions!!!
These questions about South Africa were posted on a South African Tourism Website and were answered by the website owner (great sense of humour!). Q: Does it ever get windy in South Africa ? I have never seen it rain on TV, so how do the plants grow? ( UK ) A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them die. Q: Will I be able to see elephants in the street? ( USA ) A: Depends how much you’ve been drinking. Q: I want to walk... Read full post

Accommodation
When making a reservation at one of the more known hotels / lodges, then this does not apply but when you are coming to stay with someone in their home, avoid paying for the stay in full before arriving. Be willing to pay 50% for the accommodation in advance. You may find the accommodation or your host not suitable and in this way you have the option to spent the last duration of your stay at another place.
Finances
We are currently experiencing fraud in the production of R200... Read full post
